Evan graduated summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa from Bucknell University with a degree in Biology in 2009. After starting a biomedical sciences PhD program at Harvard University, he decided instead to pursue tutoring and leadership opportunities with Method Test Prep. Evan’s experience has given him the ability to excel as a top educator at Method Test Prep, and has helped develop his current responsibilities, which include teaching, managing Method Test Prep’s team of tutors, developing educational content, and expanding the reach of Method Test Prep’s private tutoring services.
In his early days, prior to developing a passion for education, Evan aspired to be an astronomer. One of his life goals is to travel the world in hopes of finding inspiration to write a work of fiction. Currently, Evan’s pastimes include listening to and playing music, running, writing, and engaging in political and policy-oriented discussions. A natural planner, Evan lives by the quote, “Previous planning prevents poor performance.”
Tom graduated from Princeton University and completed Princeton’s Teacher Preparation Program. Early on, he developed a passion for learning which led to the inception of Method Test Prep. Running this small business allowed Tom to really focus on each student’s needs and spend countless hours tutoring with the belief that all students have the ability to succeed. In addition, he has worked as an educational consultant with school districts across the country and advises them on ways to improve the districts’ college admission test scores.
Tom is a father to twins Jonathan and Julia and enjoys traveling with his children and wife, Ally. In his down time, he reads, watches sports, and stays active. When he retires, Tom hopes to return to the classroom to continue his love of teaching. His motto in life, “Keep your face to the sunshine and you will never see the shadows.”
Elliot graduated from Brown University with a degree in Mathematical Economics. This means he has forgotten more about math than most will ever know. After a brief stint as an insurance analyst, he joined Method Test Prep, where his confident and patient educational style would shine.
As Method Test Prep’s Director of Online Learning, Elliot has helped thousands of students from around the world conquer the SAT and ACT. His desire to improve and innovate has driven the growth of Method Test Prep’s online learning division, which provides students access to the best instructors regardless of location.
When Elliot isn’t hard at work, you’ll probably find him cycling, playing ultimate frisbee, or mastering a new foreign language. He has big plans to travel the world with his wife, Gen, and immerse himself in other cultures.
The 10-year-old Andrew Peterson envisioned himself as a psychiatrist; however, as he grew to adulthood, he needed more of a challenge and decided to take on high school education instead. Andrew has drawn on his strong intellect and enduring patience to develop into one of Method Test Prep’s most highly regarded tutors. He is responsible for developing new material as well as training and leading our tutoring corps. Andrew enjoys astronomy, swimming, scuba diving, and music, but not all at the same time. When he needs to summon that last bit of inner strength or inspiration to help a student, he recalls the quote, “Problems are not stop signs, they are guidelines.”
Kevin graduated from SUNY Albany with a BA in History and minor in political science. After receiving his MA in Teaching in 2006, he taught English in Taiwan and then worked in a number of capacities in several Long Island schools. Since joining Method Test Prep in 2011, Kevin has tutored and taught classes for both the SAT and ACT. His energy, humor, and penchant for pop-cultural references make his tutoring engaging and as exciting as the SAT and ACT could possibly be. When he’s not tutoring, Kevin might be found enjoying the water on the south shore or playing with his dog, Doozie.
Kyle graduated from Pace University in 2011 with a Bachelors in English and minor in applied psychology. He then continued on to receive his MSed in Secondary Education from Hofstra University. Kyle began tutoring students for the SAT and ACT in 2011 and joined Method Test Prep in 2013 where he serves as a private tutor and classroom instructor at local high schools. In his time spent as a high school and youth baseball coach, Kyle has developed a comprehensive understanding of the demands placed on today’s students and seeks to help them find a way to balance their passions and their education through his work as a tutor. His warm, caring approach has earned him a fantastic reputation among students and parents alike. After hours, you’ll find Kyle reading and enjoying time with his wife and newborn son.
Oliver graduated from Harvard University with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology before heading out to California where he co-founded an education company called the School of Imagination. After returning to New York, he taught English at Chaminade High School and helped found a social enterprise non-profit in Syracuse. Prior to joining Method Test Prep, Oliver worked in development at New York University and as the executive director of a yoga institute.
A lifelong student with a passion for expanding his horizons, Oliver has studied, taught and traveled in over 20 countries around the globe. In his spare time you’ll usually find him playing music, hiking, sailing and laughing as much as possible with his wife Beth and his children Cecelia and Julian. One of his favorite quotes is from Sir Edmund Hillary: “It is not the mountain that we conquer, but ourselves.”
A Long Island native, Keith is an eight-year veteran tutor at Method Test Prep. He holds a dual degree in Mathematics and Applied Mathematics & Statistics from Stony Brook University. In addition to serving as a private tutor for the SAT, ACT, and academic mathematics, Keith has taught several Method Test Prep SAT and ACT Prep Courses at our test centers, local schools, and online. He has a reputation for being an especially good motivator whose no-nonsense approach has helped thousands of students raise their test scores. When he’s not tutoring, Keith can probably be found programming or watching football.
Donald graduated from Adelphi University with a BA in Literature and an MA in Adolescent Education. For the past seven years at MTP, he has worked with students one-on-one, in small groups, in the classroom, and online, helping them with the SAT, ACT, English Regents, and college application essays. He teaches SAT classes year round both at our Centers, local schools and online. He has had great success with students thanks to both his educational background and his enthusiastic passion for teaching. Outside of his work with MTP, Donald is an adjunct instructor of English literature at SUNY Old Westbury, and is probably watching LOST for the hundredth time.
Robert is a highly skilled educator and environmental engineering professional, who has extensive experience in both STEM subjects and SAT/ACT instruction. He received his BS at Rutgers University along with his MS in Civil & Environmental Engineering from NJIT and is currently pursuing a PhD at Stony Brook University. He is BOCES-trained in Curriculum Design and has significant experience in cross-cultural communications. He has an empathetic and patient approach and captures students’ interest through vivid and engaging discussions and examples. Robert currently works with BOCES Academy of Applied Technology as well as Method Test Prep.
Iffat has a BS in Business Management from Adelphi University. Before joining Method Test Prep, Iffat had amassed several years of experience in individual and group tutoring for students at the elementary and secondary school level. Her dream job growing up was to be a teacher, so she is thrilled to be able to teach classes and help students prepare to take the ACT and SAT. Iffat understands the challenges presented by standardized tests and the struggles faced by many students and does her best to provide an individualized approach that best suits each student. Outside of tutoring and developing her personal and professional skills, Iffat can be found painting, reading, and studying several foreign languages.
An avid fan of language, Nickki received her Bachelor of Arts in Spanish from Allegheny College. Never quite able to settle upon only one subject, she also excelled in Math and History, and was the recipient of the Albert and Bessie Seidel Scholarship for Academic Achievement. Facing and overcoming challenges (intellectual and otherwise) is one of her strongest personality traits. Nickki finds deep joy in educating, and has been teaching and tutoring many different subjects for several years. Able to adjust to students’ individual needs, Nickki offers help to any and all levels of learning styles and understanding.
Whenever she ever gets a spare moment, Nickki loves: drawing, playing her drums, singing, writing, and performing other creative feats. Her talents are only surpassed by her love of learning as she wishes to impart wisdom upon as many young minds as possible!
Brianne has a BS in Mathematics from Adelphi University and is pursuing her Masters in the Scholar Teacher Education Program (STEP) for Adolescent Education as she prepares to become a secondary mathematics teacher. With a Music minor, she is also pursuing her Advanced Certificate in Special Education as well as her Middle School Extension. While at Adelphi, she held many leadership positions including being a Resident Assistant, the President of Omicron Delta Kappa Leadership Honor Society, the Vice President of Pi Mu Epsilon Mathematics Honor Society, an Orientation Leader, a Senior Admissions Ambassador and a member of the Future Teachers Association. Brianne is a bassist who has performed with the Adelphi University Symphony Orchestra as principal bassist, as well as many local musical productions in the pit orchestra. She’s passionate about teaching mathematics, and enjoys sharing her love of learning with Method Test Prep students.
Roshni Stony graduated from Stony Brook University where she received her Bachelor of Science in Biology. She then attended Hofstra University where she received her Master’s in Healthcare Administration with a concentration in finance. She has a passion for improving healthcare outcomes specifically by leveraging strategic analytics and is pursuing a career in healthcare consulting. Throughout her high school, undergraduate and graduate career, teaching has always been an active part of her life. She has vast experience in private tutoring as well as college level classroom settings. Roshni loves working with students to utilize strategy based techniques to tackle tough problems.
When Roshni isn’t working and studying, you’ll find her enjoying a healthy and fit lifestyle, practicing her French, challenging herself by learning to cook new cuisines, and painting. Roshni has extensive plans to travel the world and immerse herself in other cultures.
Kelly graduated from SUNY Oneonta with a dual Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and Statistics. Kelly has been a peer tutor in various mathematics and statistics during her undergraduate studies where she has found a passion for helping students one on one. Additionally, Kelly grew up on Long Island where she has always been close to the water. For years, Kelly has been a lifeguard and a water safety instructor where she has been able to work closely with individuals to help them develop aquatic skills that they have been working on. During her free time, you can catch Kelly running, swimming or practicing yoga.
Katie holds an undergraduate degree from Georgetown University and a masters in the Teaching of English at Teacher College, Columbia University. Katie currently teaches middle school and high school English in Valley Stream, NY. With over nine years experience in reading, writing and research instruction, Katie is also a certified AP Capstone instructor.
Hafsa completed her Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and Psychology at Tulane University and is a first-year Master’s of Education candidate at Hunter College. Hafsa has previous experience teaching and working with students through their college admissions journey. Hafsa looks forward to working with motivated students in reaching their academic goals. In her free time, she enjoys yoga and knitting.
Patrick recently graduated from the University of Notre Dame and is now studying law at St. John’s University. At Notre Dame, Patrick majored in Political Science and Psychology. Pursuing his interests in U.S. and foreign politics, Patrick also took courses that piqued his interests in education and teaching strategies. Before college, Patrick attended Chaminade High School, where he excelled in math, history, and writing.
Outside of the academic realm, Patrick enjoys playing baseball and basketball and watching professional and college sports. In addition, he loves traveling across the United States and Europe, taking in historical landmarks, museums, and beautiful landscapes.
