In addition, he has worked as an educational consultant with school districts across the country and advises them on ways to improve the districts’ college admission test scores.
Tom is a father to twins Jonathan and Julia and enjoys traveling with his children and wife, Ally. In his down time, he reads, watches sports, and stays active. When he retires, Tom hopes to return to the classroom to continue his love of teaching. His motto in life, "Keep your face to the sunshine and you will never see the shadows."

What did you want to be when you were 10? A professional shopper.

When Elliot was ten years old, he wanted to be: a doctor.
Meagan Reilly is the Office Manager at Method Test Prep’s Long Island Center. She is the type of person others would want on their team – optimistic, family-oriented (her brother is her best friend), and extremely self-motivated (probably too hard on herself.) She has always had a passion for helping young people reach their potential. In her spare time, her favorite place in the world is her family’s summer home on the North Fork of Long Island. Her contributions to Method Test Prep can be summed up by a quote that has been instrumental to her: “Never hope for it more than you work for it.”
The 10-year-old Andrew Peterson envisioned himself as a psychiatrist; however, as he grew to adulthood, he needed more of a challenge and decided to take on high school education instead. Andrew has drawn on his strong intellect and enduring patience to develop into one of Method Test Prep's most highly regarded tutors. He is responsible for developing new material as well as training and leading our tutoring corps. Andrew enjoys astronomy, swimming, scuba diving, and music, but not all at the same time. When he needs to summon that last bit of inner strength or inspiration to help a student, he recalls the quote, “Problems are not stop signs, they are guidelines.”
Before joining the team at Method Test Prep, Melanie pursued a rigorous and rewarding academic career at Stony Brook University where she studied English and Journalism. Her role at MTP is one as a “jack-of-all-trades,” from proctoring the center’s weekly practice ACT and SAT exams, to creating content for the company’s web-based program.
Her love of the English language extends back as far as she can remember. As a precocious fifth grader, Melanie’s dream career was “to write and illustrate children’s books.” That dream has yet to be shelved.
During her spare time, Melanie enjoys reading anything she can get her hands on, writing, and playing the piano and drums. A self-proclaimed grammarian and logophile, she is working to stop silently correcting other’s grammar in her head. One adage she closely adheres to is, “Sometimes the worst thing that could happen turns out to be the best.”
As she grows with the company, Melanie looks forward to the ways in which her talents will help benefit the students who pass through MTP’s physical and digital doors.
Mike just joined Method Test Prep in January 2015. He comes to MTP after nearly 15 years of teaching English in secondary schools around the country where he was an advocate for the incorporation of innovative technologies in the classroom setting.
He was and is still a proponent for individualizing education and giving students the power of self-direction. As a teacher and department chair at his former school, Mike was so enamored with the Method Test Prep online program that not only was he instrumental in bringing it to his school, but he ultimately decided that Method Test Prep would be a great place to work, too!
Born in Vermont and reared in the Adirondacks of upstate New York, Mike attended tiny Green Mountain College as an undergraduate student, Eastern Michigan University as a graduate student, and both Middle Tennessee State University and the University of Louisville as a post-graduate student.
After living and working in rural Pennsylvania and rural Tennessee, Mike now calls Louisville, Kentucky home, where he lives with his wife (also a teacher) and two-year old son. Mike is an avid reader and writer, but also enjoys working on his ’90 Volvo 240, following the Boston Celtics, and spending quality time with his family.
Oliver graduated from Harvard University with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology before heading out to California where he co-founded a special education company called the School of Imagination. After returning to New York, he taught English at Chaminade High School and helped found a social enterprise non-profit in Syracuse. Prior to joining Method Test Prep in 2015, Oliver worked in development at New York University and as the executive director of a yoga institute and non-profit.
A lifelong student with a passion for expanding his horizons, Oliver has studied, taught and traveled in over 20 countries around the globe. In his spare time you’ll usually find him playing music, hiking, sailing and laughing as much as possible with his wife Beth and his children Cecelia and Julian. One of his favorite quotes is from Sir Edmund Hillary: “It is not the mountain that we conquer, but ourselves.”
